KENT CITY, Mich. – Children grow fast and keeping them clothed can be costly.

That’s the reason behind the Mom to Mom Sale on May 18.  Visitors to Mamrelund Community Center can sift through gently used children’s clothing, toys, books, furniture and more.  Admission is free.

The Mom to Mom Sale runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The Mamrelund Community Center is located between 14 Mile and 15 Mile roads on Fruit Ridge Avenue.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- Experience Grand Rapids and the Kent County Lodging Association have opened the 6th Annual WAVE Award nominations.

The annual awards program recognizes outstanding service providers in the Grand Rapids and Kent County hospitality industry. Nominations will be accepted from employers and guests from April 30 to Oct.7, 2013. One award will be presented in each of the following categories: Transportation, Retail & Service, Attractions/Events, and Nightlife. New categories to the 2013 awards program include: Restaurants/Breweries, Lodging, and Volunteer in Hospitality.

Sparta Clean Up Days begin April 18

Spring is here, so let the cleaning begin!

Sparta’s Public Works Department will hold Clean Up Days April 18 through April 20 this year.  At that time, township and village residents may drop off household rubbish and yard waste at the Public Works building, located at  156 E. Division St.

Computer business opens second location in Sparta

SPARTA, Mich. – A computer repair and retail business has opened a second store in Sparta.

The Sparta Chamber of Commerce and employees of Geek Worx cut the ribbon on the new site Tuesday.  This is Geek Worx’s second location in West Michigan.

The Sparta store is located at 480 N. Division, next to Tom’s Hometown Bakery and BC Pizza.
