Sparta's Michigan Beer Cellar changing owners

Michigan Beer Cellar at 500 E Division Street in Sparta is getting a new owner. According to the Facebook page of Michigan Beer Cellar, the brewery is being sold to Chuck Brown from Coopersville. Brown apparently has deep experience in the restaurant and food service industry and plans to continue to grow Michigan Beer Cellar. The current owners are training Brown on all aspects of the brewery in the next few months.

The same beers, wines, and distilled products are expected to be made under the new ownership, along with some new products. Brown started at the brewery full time starting last Monday while the licensing process is worked out.

Trini's Provides "Food for Thought" and Invites Public to Support Education

Downtown Trini's Mexican Restaurant has once again partnered with the Sparta Education Foundation to raise money to benefit Sparta students. The 7th annual "Food for Thought" fundraiser will be held at Downtown Trini's (148 E. Division, Sparta) on November 7th from 4:00-9:00 p.m. All tips from both take-out and eat-in meals will be donated to the Foundation. Sparta teachers and administrators will welcome patrons and help Trini's exceptional staff on this one special night of fun and good food.

The Foundation was established in 1991 as an independent 501c3 non-profit organization. Some would say its motto "to provide the extras for education" is even more important today. In total the Sparta Education Foundation has provided close to $221,000 in grants to Sparta teachers for classroom resources, student trips, professional development, etc. All of the grants directly benefit Sparta students of all ages.
