Local Sparta resident Adele Bradford Jones has created a very special journal to easily document your family history. The purpose of this book is to record your own life events and significant dates as they happen so you can enjoy recalling them in the future. Journal the first steps of your child, family trips, starting a new job or the thoughts or sayings of the loved ones around you. and your own life changes.

A portion of the proceeds from this book will go towards Sparta Twp Library.

Sparta sports physicals

ATTENTION ALL 6TH - 11TH GRADERS WHO WANT TO PLAY ANY SPORT IN 2012-13.

In order to participate in Athletics, all Athletes must have a physical exam on a yearly basis. Spectrum Family Medicine will again have a night where they will be offering a sports physical for $15. The date for this is Wednesday May 30 at 5:30.

Spectrum health is on 12 Mile and M 37 just west of the HS. You will not find a sports physical for this price anywhere!!! Please take advantage of this so that you can start your sport on the first day!

The 2012 Downtown Sparta Farmers Market is on Wednesday’s from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm beginning June 13 through September 26. The Market will be set up at ChoiceOne Bank Parking Lot in downtown, Sparta!

The Sparta Farmers Market would like to invite you to participate in our 4th Annual Farmers Market for the 2012 season! Our goal is to strengthen and support local farmers & producers, bring people together in a community activity while making the Farmers Market a weekly destination. Educating local consumers about the benefits of eating locally grown and healthy fresh foods are important to the Sparta Farmers Market!

In addition we have a 10 week Summer Concert in Rogers Park Series with Special Events where the attendance swells!

Sparta Schools: Know Someone Who is Looking for a New School District?

All 20 public school districts within Kent ISD participate in the county Schools of Choice program. This program allows people to send their children to school, outside their resident district, without getting a superintendent's "release" or receiving the superintendent's "permission". The open enrollment for Schools of Choice closes at the end of the day on Friday, June 1 if all of our spaces are filled. If not, it is open until school starts. The only limit on movement between school districts is the space available in the desired district. Sparta has well over 200 students attending via the Schools of Choice program. Sparta has openings at every level, grades K-12. Once a student is enrolled through Schools of Choice, that student can remain in the district for his/her entire school career.

All you can eat Pancake Breakfast for heart research Saturday May 5, 2012 7:30am-10:30am at the Sparta Civic Center, 75 N. Union, Sparta, MI 49345. Breakfast is all you can eat pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee and juice. The Sparta Lions Club is graciously cooking for this event to help fund money for Faith's Angels Inc, a local non-profit whose mission is to raise awareness for heart defects and funds for research. Cost: $5/person, under age 3 is FREE!
