Faith’s Walk & Pancake Breakfast Returns on May 2

For the seventh year, Faith’s Walk returns to Sparta. Sparta was Faith’s hometown. The mission of Faith’s Angels is to raise awareness, educate the public and raise funds for congenital heart disease (CHD).

With all the love & support of the community during Faith’s diagnosis, life & passing, this walk is the making of a dream for Faith’s family & other’s with CHD (congenital, heart disease). This 2 mile Walk begins with an Opening ceremony at 9am at Roger’s Park & continues through historic downtown Sparta.

An All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast takes place from 7:30am -10:30am at the Sparta Civic Center located at 75 North Union Street. The cost is $5.00/per person & children under 3, eat free. The Sparta Lion’s Club volunteer their time & talent to cook up a hearty breakfast that includes pancakes, sausage, juice & more for attendees. Also, the local band, “Strike the Rock” will play for patrons in the Civic Center from 8am-9am.

Free Fishing for Kids Auction in White Cloud

The Russell H. Gilbert Memorial Kids Free Fishing Day Auction will take place on May 3, 2015 this year at the Commission on Aging Building at 93 S. Gibbs in White Cloud, MI. Food will be available to purchase during the auction.

The committee is looking for auction items if you would like to donate before May 2, 2015. All proceeds help support the 33rd Annual Kids Free Fishing Day that will be held this year on Saturday, June 6th at Lake White Cloud.

Mom 2 Mom Sale at Lakes Mall in Muskegon

The Lakes Mall announces the upcoming Mom 2 Mom Sale taking place at The Lakes Mall on Saturday, April 11, from 9am – 2pm.  The free event will feature over 55 vendors, character appearances, car seat installations and much more.

Mom 2 Mom Sale is a first-time event offering a large selection of gently used children’s clothing, accessories, toys, gear, furniture, strollers and more sold by Muskegon-area Moms.  In addition, local nonprofit organizations geared towards families will participate in the event including March of Dimes, Muskegon Community Health Project, Catholic Charities West Michigan, Muskegon Area Intermediate School District, Birth Quest Services and many more.

My Town Sparta: Free photos with the Easter Bunny April 4

SPARTA, Mich.—The Easter Bunny will take a break from hiding eggs to hop into Sparta this weekend.

Families are invited to visit the Easter Bunny Saturday, April 4 at Sparta Community House, 80 N. Union Street. Children can pose for free pictures taken by the North Kent Camera Club.  Family Farm & Home will have baby chicks and ducks available to entertain the kids while they wait to visit the harbinger of spring. 

The Easter Bunny’s visit will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parking is available in the library lot.

My Town: Date set for the Sparta Rodeo's return

SPARTA, Mich.—Get your cowboy hats ready—the date is set for the return of the Sparta Rodeo.

This year’s event will take place Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6 at 5 p.m. at the Sparta Rodeo Grounds, located at M-37 and 13 Mile Road.  Organizers plan to prepare the grounds beginning August 29.  No glass bottles or dogs will be allowed at the event.  All seating will be on the lawn.

Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for youth ages 6-17 and free for children up to age five.  Camping will also be available from Sept. 2 through Sept. 7; for rates, visit the event site here.

My Town: Spring Church Bazaar returns Saturday

KENT CITY, Mich.-- Spring is here, which means it's time for the Spring Church Bazaar.

The event showcases booths filled with one-of-a-kind gifts made available by artists and vendors.  The bazaar is open Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests will also have the opportunity to check out delicious baked goods and experience lunch during this spring craft show. Proceeds from the luncheon and bake sale will benefit the Adopt-A-Family program.
