Harvest on the Ridge Apple Festival

Downtown Sparta comes alive, September 24 & 25 in celebration of their Agricultural Heritage! 

This Harvest on the Ridge festival promotes the benefits of locally grown produce and features an Arts & Craft Show, a Michigan Beer, Wine & Hard Apple Cider Tasting event, a Michigan Apple Pie Baking Contest, a Smokin' BBQ Contest, a Scarecrow Building Contest, a 4-H Petting Zoo, a Harvest Pantry Car Show and much more, along with many family activities and tours! Thursday Music at Peace, Fall Concert Series

Peace Lutheran Church presents "Thursday Music at Peace" debuting three fall concerts taking place the first Thursday of each month from 12:15pm to 12:45pm at 1225 12 Mile Road NW in Sparta, Michigan. A free will offering will be accepted for a soup & salad lunch beginning at 11:30am for those who would like to partake.

October 7 - pianist, Stephen Pinkous & saxophonists, Caleb Hugo will entertain with jazz-inspired music

November 4 - Christine Schut will delight all with seasonal organ music

December 2 - baritone soloist, Randy Posthumus will perform Christmas music

Rodeo grounds to be site for Halloween event

The old Sparta rodeo grounds on the corner of 13 Mile & M-37 has sat vacant since the closure of the rodeo. Robert Preston, president of The Stable Group, Incorporated and John Kunz of Arrowhead Productions and a Sparta resident have taken interest in the property and work is in progress to convert the land into a Festival of Fear for the month of October. This goulish project will consist of family friendly activities from pumpkin patches, face painting, mazes and haunted trails. The 100-plus acres will be Michigan's largest outdoor Halloween venue, offering something for the entire family! Hours of operations are Friday through Sunday from noon to midnight and most week days from 5pm to midnight. Appleview Elementary - Open House and Meet the Teacher Night
