Roger’s Park explodes with musical entertainment and great eats, tonight, while relaxing under the stars!

The 50/60’s Sea Cruiser’s will light up Rogers Park beginning at 6:30pm and Peace Lutheran Church will be offering a Beef & Pork Dinner along with mashed potatoes & gravy, cowboy baked beans, green beans, roll & butter, beverages and ice cream sundaes. Cost is $10 for Adults, $5 for Kids 4-10 years of age.

Monday, April 3, 2017, curbside brush pick-up started and will be available on the first week of each month through October 6

Village crews will pick up only brush 4” in diameter including branches, trees and limbs. Anything larger than four inches in diameter will be left curbside.

Brush Pick-Up Schedule: April 3-7, May 1-5, June 5-9, July 3-7, August 7-11, September 4-8, October 2-6.

Tally-Ho! Puppet Festival Returns!

For the third year, the Sparta Chamber invites all ages to check out this Puppet Festival fun!

Visit Sparta Civic Center located at 75 N Union Street on Saturday, March 11 from 10:30am – 2:00pm for creative storytelling in a unique way. The family can enjoy the “World of Puppets” by Professor Jason Yancey, Advertureland Puppets, History of Vocal Illusion by David Fowler and The Village Puppeteers in “Lost Storyland” plus puppet making activities between shows.

Cost is $5.00 per person or $15 per family. Puppets, ventriloquist figures, books and more will also be available for purchase.

Candlelight Snowshoeing on Valentines Day

Make plans to spend time with your significant other on Valentine’s Day!

Howard Christiansen Nature Center located at 16190 Red Pine Drive in Kent City is offering three Candlelight Snowshoe guided excursion through their scenic trails on Valentine’s Day. You can choose 6:30pm, 7:30pm or 9:00pm.

The excursion includes snowshoe and is a one mile hike through candle lit trails with the chance to warm up by the fire and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate. It’s a romantic evening you won’t want to miss.

Member Cost: $8.00 per couple and Non-members are $15.00 per couple.

Apple Fest Celebration on September 24

The community is invited to downtown Sparta, as it comes alive on Saturday during the Michigan Apple Fest.

There is all day fun for everyone, beginning with the delicious Apple Pancake breakfast from 8am – 10am. Then from 10am – 8pm this Apple Fest features a Kids Carnival, Petting Zoo, Hands on Apple Art, an Artisan Craft Market, along with your vote matters with Cider Tasting through 6pm.

Don’t forget the Comedy Show, fun competitions like the Couch Race at 4pm, the Sling Shot Contest at 5:30pm and the Apple Pie Eating Contest at 6pm. Families can relax and enjoy neighborhood conversation during the Apple Dessert Social at 5:30pm

The Grand Haven, Spring Lake & Ferrysburg Chamber of Commerce invite residents & visitors to take part in this sand art building activity this Saturday.

After 2 hours of sand creating, individuals, teams & families will be judged and awarded prizes on their unique presentation.

Sparta Celtic Festival Returns

Roger’s Park comes alive with Celtic heritage festivities this Saturday!

For the Seventh year, this free family-friendly festival is always on the second Saturday in August and offers music and dancing on three stages. Guests can encounter Scottish clans, historical encampments, Highland games, a beer tent, carnival rides and more.
