My Town Sparta: Homeowners begin cleaning up after storm

My Town Sparta: Homeowners begin cleaning up after storm

SPARTA, Mich.— Chainsaws have been busy this week, as property owners continue to clean up for last weekend’s storms.

Straight-line winds are being blamed for  uprooted trees and downed power lines throughout West Michigan.  Sparta, Kent City and Muskegon Heights were among the hardest hit communities.

In Sparta, Kim Powell opened her door to find a massive tree that had crashed down within feet of her home.  Powell says rain throughout the week slowed down the cleanup efforts, but her house was not damaged.
