SPARTA, Mich.—The Sparta Village Council will detail plans for community grant money during its meeting Jan. 13.

The council is expected to approve resolutions supporting giving grant money to four community nonprofit organizations, purchasing a vehicle for the fire department and buying park equipment.   The grant money would go to Arbor Circle, the Hope Network and Senior Neighbors.  Village Manager Martin Super says the village is also considering purchasing a gator for the fire department because Sparta needs a small vehicle for special events.  The rest of the funding would go toward buying equipment for the Sparta Sports Park on North State Street, including bleachers, benches and trash cans.

If the resolutions are approved, the village will fire paperwork with Kent County for funding the projects.  The county would reimburse the village for project expenses.

Monday night’s meeting begins at 7 p.m. inside the Sparta Township Chamber.
