My Town Sparta: Faith's Angels reaches fundraising milestone

SPARTA, Mich.—Eight years after one of the youngest victims of congenital heart disease passed away, an organization founded in her memory has raised more than $7,000 in donations.

Faith’s Angels is named after Faith Goodfellow, who died two weeks after birth.  Faith had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, which meant she was born with no left ventricle in her heart.  The doctors at University of Michigan performed heart surgery on Faith just three days after her birth to reroute her blood flow so she could survive.  She was kept on transportable life support the next 11 days, but then passed away after surgery.

Faith’s Angels is a non-profit organization that raises funds for medical research to help children born with CHD.  More than a dozen businesses in Sparta support the local organizations with a paper heart campaign.  To find out more, visit the organization’s website here.
