Sparta Band Boosters welcome new High School Band Director

From: http://www.spartabands.org/

The Sparta Band Boosters are pleased to welcome our new High School Band Director, Kayla Mroczek! Kayla is an outstanding Band Director formerly teaching at White Cloud, MI. She has a reputation as a stand-out among her peers, and will provide the very challenge to our students that they have come to expect from their director -- the challenge to be their very best in all aspects of their lives, including as musicians.

The following announcement was made this morning:

I am excited to announce Kayla Mroczek as our next band director. Kayla hopes to begin at Sparta on Monday, September 27, 2010; those details will soon be finalized (White Cloud deserves some consideration). Dave Wells will fulfill both middle school and high school obligations during this transition.

... The true need for support is now: as Kayla becomes a Spartan.

Tradition of Christmas Shopping in Sparta

Sparta is hosting a new Tradition of Christmas Shopping in Sparta Event on Friday, Nov. 19th to remind people to think about shopping in their own community for Christmas gifts this year.  Socks, ornaments, chocolates, hunting supplies, cards, bird feeders, gift certificates — the list goes on and on– many of us have become accustomed, even started traditions, to drive to another community, pick out our desired purchases, and spend our money there.

My Christmas Challenge

Okay.  I’ll be the first to say, I’m not the most “tech savvy” person out there.  I can run Facebook decently from my Blackberry or upload a photo to a website once I’ve been taught how to, but to start and run a BLOG seemed way out of reach for me.  I thought, “What the heck is a blog anyway?” when the idea came up.  I’ve heard the term thrown around, and thought it was for only the “techy” people.  Yet, here I am today, starting my own Blog.  Why I am starting one really comes from a discussion I had with a couple of friends about my passion for supporting my hometown businesses in Sparta.  After a bit of thought as to why shopping in my hometown is important to me, and how I could share my story with anyone interested to read it, I decided I’m going to document my experience this fall of looking for the perfect Christmas presents for my closest friends and family  in downtown Sparta.

As a gateway to “the Ridge“, a geographically prime and pristine area for growing fruits and vegetables, Sparta is a perfect place to find fresh picked and u-pick grown crops each growing season, follow color tours bursting with brilliant reds and yellows, and create a memory picking out your very own pumpkin to carve. In addition to the world class farmers markets and farm tours, the Harvest on the Ridge BBQ Contest held in downtown Sparta is an attraction for locals and visitors alike to smell and experience the professionals at work.
